Digg Page (For some reason digg decided to remove the whole article. At least I have a screenshot)
We were on Digg over a picture. I do not even want to think what will happen when we release a version.
Quick stats:
147 max people on the forum at once before the database could not keep up
Usage stats show 67084 maximum hits for a day (note, a hit is 1 IP potentially accessing multiple pages), average a day is 16791 hits.
We chewed thru 1.4GB of bandwidth last night and most of our pictures are not local but on image shack, etc
I'm unsure how many people joined #gekko on EFNet.
592 Diggs last I looked. _________________ If you do not push the limits, then you do not know what limits exist.

| That's shitty of someone. I'm sure the beta will be more easily tracked and then you can boot that person out of here when it happens again. |

Why is that shitty? That pic was released to the public, so he was allowed to do whatever he wants with it. I posted it on http://www.ngemu.com
Was pretty funny on IRC yesterday :p |

oooh, I can testify to why digg decided to remove it.
the submitter (me) deleted his account.
I didn't know they were gonna take the story down too, if I did I would have waited till tomorrow at least.
Sorry 'bout that
oooh, yeah, they pretty much deleted the last bunch of stories I submitted too. Ah well, live and learn.
I know digg members are pretty much the biggest tight arses when it comes to clicking on ads/donating money but I hope the bandwidth costs didn't end up with a massive loss in income for your folks |

It did not impact. I have a 500GB/month bandwidth. When I start to get near it I will look at my options. _________________ If you do not push the limits, then you do not know what limits exist. |

well thats cool then
gah, just kinda regretting I lost the frontpage like that Stupid shoddy Digg coding, I left the site because of it (and some other reasons) and then it turns out they can't remove an account without totally removing the accounts submissions. |

I'm actually glad it peaked late at night. Middle of the day for the US is when it would have been a lot worse for us and for the emulation64 server. _________________ If you do not push the limits, then you do not know what limits exist. |
